Touring

The Korean War Memorial.  The whole scene has an almost ghostly look to it.  To the left is a wall with disappearing faces on it.

This was one of the highlights of the trip.  Howard Pashke was  a Korean vet and to see him and hear him at the Memorial was so touching.  On the way home, he shared with the group how a stranger came up to him and thanked him and gave him a hug.  He said it was the best part of the whole trip.  There weren't any dry eyes on the bus.  He is such gentle man.

Arlington National Cemetary.  The gravesstones seemed to go as far as the eye could see.  Warriers of all our battles are buried here...plus some other noteables like the astronauts whose shuttle exploded.

I tried to move these last two pictures around, but either my computer doesn't know how to do that...or maybe I don't.  Probably the later.  The last picture is of the Vietnam War Memorial.  It was very impressive with all the thousands of names on it of young men and women who died as a result of the war.  Our leader had looked up the names of Faribault County soldiers whose names were listed.  We were able to find a young man from Frost....Roger Midthun (bottom lower right).   Was a sobering day seeing all these memorials and realizing what they stood for.

     

       A Marine in full uniform came up to a select spot on the wall and saluted.  Another moment of tears.         Jolyn
